Parent Survey: Every spring we seek input from parents, students and staff on our performance serving you and your student(s). Many of you heard about this at spring conference time right before break. Please take the opportunity to complete a short online survey that will give us good insight on this years performance so we can adjust and serve you better.
The survey should not take more than 5-10 minutes: www.washougal.k12.wa.us/parent

Reminders:
Energy Drinks
We have a policy found in our Student /Parent Handbook to not allow energy drinks on campus. Many of the drinks contain a very large dose of caffine and stimulants to get the solution into the blood stream fast. It has come to our attention that some drinks contain from 6 to 10% alcohol too. Our concern is naturally the alcohol choice, but more importantly the stimulants in the drinks. None of us know how our students react to these stimulants during the day and before or after a performance or activity. They should never be shared with anyone for the same reasons. Read more about our findings in the handbook and help us protect our students health.
Jemtegaard Highly Capable Program
The Highly Capable Program staff wishes to support and encourage parents as they endeavor to provide in environment in which their child/children can flourish and succeed. Evening meetings are often difficult to attend. If you are interested in receiving periodic emails containing resources, articles and research, please contact Rhea Bohlin at 954-3127 or rhea.bohlin@washougal.k12.wa.us .
JMS going 'GREEN'
Jemtegaard is going "GREEN" as much as possible. We have the beginnings of a GREEN TEAM, following the Washington Green Schools program. We had the first district wide meeting and we are preparing for a JMS Energy Efficiency Assessment. We will be looking at other areas as well, as we try and conserve the environment and reduce costs school wide. Last month's newsletter was the first web version of our parent newsletter. We will encourage all families to read about the happenings at JMS on this web page. If this is going to be difficult, please give us a call.
