Back to School Information

In order to make it easier to find back to school information you need to get ready for the first day of school, we’ve gathered all the information onto this page.

The first day of school is Tuesday, August 27, 2019.  Bus routes should be available via Skyward by August 20.  Bus routes are revised each year, so please check the bus routes for your child’s school to find their pick-up time. Students should be at their bus stop 5 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time, and you can expect that there could be small delays on the first day of school as students and drivers get settled into their routine.

School Offices will reopen August 13, 2019, and will be open from 9:00am – 3:00pm. Please check your school’s website for specific information and updates.

Tdap Vaccine Required for Students Starting 6th Grade

Special note for parents of students in 5th-10th grades: All children attending 6th grade must show proof of: Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccination if he or she is 11 years old and it has been five years since he or she received a tetanus-containing vaccine, like DTaP or a tetanus-diphtheria (Td) booster. All students who just finished 5th grade will need to receive the Tdap vaccination prior to starting 6th grade.

If your child is in grades 6-10 and they have not received this vaccination, he or she will need to do so as soon as possible. Students who do not receive the required immunizations or provide exemption information will be excluded from school starting on October 9, 2019.

Change to MMR Vaccine Requirement in 2019-2020

The Washington State Legislature has removed the personal and philosophical option to exempt children from the MMR vaccine required for school and child care attendance.  Medical and religious exemptions are not affected by this new law, which goes into effect 7-28-2019.  If your child previously had a personal or philosophical exemption, you will need to provide updated immunization paperwork before the first day of school, August 27, 2019.

New Free/Reduced Application for 2019-2020

Families who wish to continue receiving free or reduced price meals must submit a new Free & Reduced Meal Application each school year by the 30th day of school. For 2018-2019 year, October 8th is the 30th day of the school year. Any students receiving free or reduced meals on a carry over from 2018-2019, who have not turned in a new form, will be charged full price starting on 10/09/2019. Families with questions about their application or who need assistance should contact Julie Ferguson at the District Office, 360-954-3000.  Please read the letter to households for more information.

Food prices for the 2019-2020 School Year

A chart of food prices is available here. Increased meal prices help cover the costs associated with complying with new federal nutrition guidelines and also help reduce the amount that the district is subsidizing the food program. Prices have increased on most full price student meals by $.05. for the 2019-20 school year.

Bus Routes will be posted in mid August!

After mid-August, please make sure to check WESPaC Family Access (directions below) to check your child’s pickup and drop-off times.  You can find a link to Skyward on the Washougal School District home page under the Parents menu, using the option Parent access to student information.
