New principals chosen to lead Cape Horn-Skye and Hathaway

The Washougal School District is pleased to announce the hiring of two new elementary school principals.

Penny Andrews will replace retiring Principal Mary Lou Woody at Cape Horn-Skye Elementary School. Andrews is currently an Elementary Instructional Coach and Behavior Interventionist for the district.

Andrews joined WSD in 2004 as a 3rd and 4th grade teacher at Cape Horn-Skye.  After nine years as a classroom teacher, Andrews became an instructional coach in mathematics for grades K–5 in 2013, collaborating with teachers to plan lessons and assessments.  In the 2016-17 school year, Andrews spends half her days as a behavior interventionist at Hathaway Elementary School.   In this role Andrews coordinates services, behavioral supports and interventions to students who are at-risk academically.

During her time at WSD, Andrews has been very active on committees and learning initiative both locally and on the state level.  Andrews has also been an Adjunct Lecturer for Washington State University Vancouver, teaching mathematics pedagogy to pre-service teachers.

Sarika Mosley has been selected as the principal of Hathaway Elementary School to replace David Tudor, who is relocating to Georgia.

Mosley brings extensive experience as a classroom teacher and current experience as an elementary principal.  Mosley began her teaching career in the Beaverton School District in 2004 as an English as a Second Language Teacher for five years. Mosley also taught 5th grade for six years, including five years as a teacher in a Spanish bi-lingual program.   During her time as a classroom teacher, Mosley also served as an English as a Second Language Facilitator for grades K–8 and served as a Professional Development Facilitator.

Mosley served as the Dean of Students for the Rainer School District Summer School during the summer of 2015. Since July 2016, she has served as the principal of Slater Elementary School in Burns, Oregon.  She leads a school of 423 students, 25 certified and 15 classified staff.  She also coordinates Title I, English as a Second Language, and services for highly capable students.
