Elaine Pfeifer leaves Washougal School District Board

Elaine PfeiferElaine Pfeifer steps away from the Washougal School Board District #2 position after nearly 14 years of distinguished service.

In a letter to WSD Board Members sent July 2, 2018, Pfeifer said she “felt honored to serve with each of you as we helped guide the district in providing the best educational opportunities and environment for students to thrive and succeed, now and into the future.”

She goes on to say that Washougal is a district to be proud of and she has utmost confidence in the abilities and wisdom of the remaining board members in guiding the district toward better and better outcomes for students.

“Elaine has been a tremendous asset to the community during her time on the School Board,” said Board Chair Cory Chase.  “She has truly been an ambassador for public education.  Elaine has been selfless in her dedication to ensuring our district is able to provide the best educational opportunities to the children of Washougal.”

“We have a very unique community that I am so happy to call home,” Pfeifer continued.  “Washougal is blessed with so many caring, dedicated professionals and community members that work hard every day to make a difference in individuals’ lives and help create a positive environment.”

“Elaine has also been a great mentor to me during my time on the Board,” added Chase.  “I have relied upon her often during my time as a new Board member and during my time as the Board President.  The Board wishes her well and thanks her for her service.”

The Washougal School District is now accepting applications to fill the Director District 2 position.  District 2 stretches from the Washougal River north to the district boundary, across both Clark and Skamania county.  Please view a map of Director District boundaries and download an application, visit our web site: http://www.washougal.k12.wa.us/map-of-board-zones/

Applicants must be a registered voter and reside within District 2. This appointment will be in place through the end of 2019.  The appointed board member may file to run for a four-year term in the November 2019 election if they so choose.

School Board members are responsible for policy and governance of the Washougal School District and for providing direction to the superintendent.
