The Washougal School District met in bargaining with the Washougal Association of Educators on Monday July 29 for a 2 hour bargaining session.  This session was the 14th bargaining session so far.  The bargaining sessions began on March 9, 2020, just before the COVID closure started, and resumed in May.  The district has met with the association for around 49 hours of bargaining.

The district has come to agreement with the association on proposed changes in 45 sections of the contract, and have about 19 additional sections with proposals that have not yet been settled.

Agreements have been reached on topics including safety, non-discrimination, and a number of leave provisions.  Remaining issues include salaries, supplemental contracts, special education, and student discipline.

The district has scheduled future meetings with the association that includes dates in July and August as work continues toward a contract that addresses concerns, and ensures the investments the community makes in education are letting us know, nurture, and challenge students to rise.
