The goal for each Washougal High School senior is to graduate with a plan for their next steps.  Those who have made promises for enrollment into internships, apprenticeships, colleges, trade schools or a branch of the military were celebrated at the “Panthers Rising!” event on June 10.

“Every student in this gym has shown the resiliency, grit, and determination needed to be college and career ready and today we celebrate you and your accomplishments,” said WHS Principal, Sheree Clark.

Each student was presented a yard sign that included the logo of the institution or program they are headed to which can be proudly displayed at their home.  As a part of the event, students were called up to tables, in groups, to autograph their sign at an assembly that was live streamed for the entire student body and parents. Pre-recorded and personalized well wishes from college and program recruiters were played on a big screen and WSD Superintendent Dr. Mary Templeton was there to offer her congratulations.  Many students proudly wore branded shirts and sweatshirts from the institution they plan to attend.

The first-ever event was held in May of 2019 and was not able to be held in 2020.  Part celebration of the future and part inspiration for underclassmen, it is now a new Washougal tradition!  #WashougalRising
