The draft of the Washougal School District budget for school year 2021-2022 is being made available to the community.  The budget for the next year includes investments identified in the district’s strategic plan and in alignment with our goals for responsible stewardship of resources.

Investments use local taxpayer supported Educational Program and Operations levy dollars, plus ESSER II and III funds to continue vital services and programs.   These funds will support innovative student learning experiences, such as the launch of our new Dual Language program, the new Transitional Kindergarten program, and continuation of the Washougal Learning Academy which provides flexible, family-friendly learning opportunities to meet the needs of our learners.

The four year projection stabilizes fiscally responsible district reserves in alignment with board goals, while maximizing the resources we have to provide excellent teaching and learning for our students.  The draft plan uses a conservative enrollment forecast, and keeps the focus on improving student achievement and investing in attracting and retaining excellent staff to serve our families.

Included in the budget are investments in staff development for all staff and a focus on Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to increase student achievement.  These planned investments support all students achieving their full academic and social potential. Other investments include a continuation of our accelerated programming, modern curriculum, Career and Technical Education, focus on fine arts, small class sizes, the 1:1 tech initiative, and excellent facilities.
