Weekly message from Dr. Mary Templeton to WSD staff – May 24, 2019
WHS: Templeton was “back in the game” this week as a substitute teacher. I taught ALL DAY LONG at the high school and was exhausted by the end!! Our wonderful drama teacher, Mr. Kelly Gregersen, was the 5thgrade guest teacher at Hathaway (rave reviews from students!!) for the day and I was the drama teacher at the high school. Wonderful experience for us both! I loved being a teacher and so returning to the “original calling” was both fun and inspiring. I did forget that you have to wait forever to be able to go to the bathroom! Thanks to all of you who do this challenging and important work EVERY DAY!
Unified Soccer Send Off for State: A group of students, parents, and the Mayor of Washougal joined us this afternoon at the high school to encourage our Unified Soccer team. They are headed to state for the first time and were escorted out of town by our fire department. Love this community and how they support our students. Thanks coach Allen for your passion and dedication to our students!
STRIDE Results: Templeton may not have “dominated” the stride run, but I do know that I finished strong and had many of my fellow DO colleagues and School Board Members participate and help with this amazing event. It was inspiring to see so many of our district families with their kids out for a healthy and positive activity. Thanks to the Washougal Schools Foundation and all of the volunteers who participated. We are hoping that the DO wins the prize for participation!
Inspiration this week: The Inspiration this week goes to our JMS track team. Our group won the District Meet and set many school records. Enclosed is a great picture of one of our High School athletes, “hanging” with the MS girl runners. All of these excellent competitors now hold school records. Makes you want to go out for MS track again, right?
