Welcome to Kindergarten!

This year is flying by and our Kindergartners are looking more like 1st graders. It's time for preschoolers to begin thinking about, and preparing for, kindergarten. Registration time will be here before you know it. We will have announcements go out later this spring for Kindergarten round-up. Parents please make sure your children are up to date on shots and that you have the official state birth certificate for your child. Kids make sure you are practicing your ABC's and counting.

The kindergarten schedule for Cape Horn-Skye (and the rest of Washougal School district) is different than the traditional AM and PM kindergarten schedule. Our kindergartners participate in school just as if they were in any other grade. They ride the bus with all the other students to and from school, they eat lunch, have recess, learn music and exercise in PE.

Although our kindergarten students attend the same hours as the rest of the students, they do only attend half time. To do this, they attend two and a half days a week. Group "A" attends school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Group "B"  attends Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Also, remember that Wednesdays are 1/2 days for all of the elementrary schools in the district so your student will be released at 11:35 on Wednesdays.
