Hello Cape Horn-Skye Families!

It is with great pride that I join the Kodiak family this year as your Principal.  It is my belief that each student is capable of growth and achievement in a caring, supportive learning environment.  We each play an important role in nurturing relationships, a strong focus on education, and ensuring each child has what they need in order to maintain an equitable learning environment.  Our talented staff holds excellence at the forefront in all that they do.  My goal is to continue the tradition of excellence and to be a caring partner in your child’s education.

Cape Horn-Skye Elementary is a special place to me.  I live in Washougal with my husband Joel and two sons who attend Canyon Creek Middle School.  Our family enjoys the outdoors and spending time with loved ones in our beautiful Washougal community.
I look forward to a wonderful school year getting to know each of you.  Please do not hesitate to reach out so that I can best serve our Kodiaks!

Dr. Alden Clark, Dean of Students

Dr. Alden Clark returns to Cape in the new role of Dean of Students. He will also be serving as Canyon Creek’s School Counselor.

When it comes to my educational background, I have spent twenty years working at the middle school level and three years in elementary schools. Before coming to CH-S/CCMS, I have served as both a dean of students and a school counselor between Washougal, Evergreen, and Vancouver school districts. I started my career working as a district resource officer for Vancouver Public Schools. I have earned a bachelor’s degree in social and criminal justice, a master’s degree in education with a counselling emphasis, and my doctorate work is in educational leadership with an emphasis on behavior management.

My educational lens revolves around finding the supports that each student needs to be successful. I believe that all students should have equitable opportunities for learning and accessing school activities. My purpose is to be an advocate for students whose voices may not be heard and to be a champion for all students!  I look forward to learning, working, and serving alongside each of you!”
