On the eve of opening our school to students for the 2017-18 school year, my heart goes out to all of our families and staff members who have been impacted by the Gorge fires. The smoky air and the falling ash are visual reminders of the devastating effects of wildfires.

As of right now, we are still planning on greeting students at the door and getting them settled into their classrooms and their new routines. If anything changes, the district will send out automated calls as well as post information on the district website.

Please don’t hesitate to ask for help if you need it. If we can’t provide what you need, we will try to find someone who can. I have already seen so many wonderful examples of people helping others in our area; neighbors helping neighbors, families supporting each other, and strangers loaning equipment, supplies and their time. It is a strong community that takes care of each other!

Stay safe, and don’t hesitate to drop on by.
