Input Opportunity for Design of New Schools (posted 6-8-2015)
Patrons who were unable to attend the Community Design Symposium can still provide input! Washougal School District is inviting patrons to fill out a survey on ideas and input into the early design phase of construction of three new schools. Please click this link below to find a link to the survey.

“The District is excited to start work on the school construction process the community supported during the capital bond in February,” said Dawn Tarzian, WSD Superintendent. “An early step is to solicit community input into what kinds of learning experiences these new buildings should facilitate for students now and those we will educate in the future.”

Input can be provided on the replacement building for JMS, a new K-5 elementary school that will share some of the learning spaces with the new JMS, and a new building to replace Excelsior High School’s current facility. The new schools will alleviate overcrowding and provide safer and more positive learning environments for students.

Muffins and Moms Event Great Success (posted 5-4-2015)
Each spring Gause Elementary students enjoy some extra special reading time with their mothers or other special adults at the “Muffins and Moms” event that was held on Friday, May 1, 2015.

“This is our fourth annual event and it just keeps getting more popular,” said Gause first grade teacher and event organizer, Marvina Bugajski. “Students and their moms or special relative have a muffin, juice and read a good book together. At the end of the event there is a raffle for students to win books of their very own.”

According to Bugajski, the event began small in the school library but is now so large it reaches standing room only in the school cafeteria. “We had about 100 adults with their children for a total of around 325 attendees,” she reported. Third grade teacher, Rebecca Woodings, was also instrumental in organizing the popular family event.

“Donuts with Dads” plays host to fathers and will be held the morning of June 12.

2014-2015 School Improvement Plan (posted 11-19-2014)
Each year the Gause School staff gathers data about student achievement, analyzes it for areas of concerns, and builds a set of goals and strategies to help increase student learning. This year's School Improvement Plan, presented to and approved by the Washougal School Board on Nov 18, 2014, is available here.

Important - Changes to After School Pickup for Students (posted 9-15-2014)
In order to ensure a safe way for parents to pick up students after school that maintains student safety, we are changing the way that Kindergarten students are picked up in the afternoons. We are also asking parents of grades 1 - 5 students to review and follow the rules for picking up older students. Please read these letters: Kindergarten pick up letter | Grade 1-5 pick up letter

Gause Boosters needs Volunteers!
The Gause Boosters have many great activities for our students planned for the 2014-2015, and we look forward to these enrichment activities, which make our school a fun and exciting place for students! But to put all of these activities on, the Boosters need help! Parents, grandparents, or other guardians are asked to download this form, and let the Boosters know what activities you might be interested in helping with. Forms need to be turned in at least 2 weeks before you can volunteer, as all volunteers are run through the District background check process. Thanks for helping us provide these great activities for our students!
