George Cass, a WSD teacher, coach, and substitute, has passed away. Mr. Cass worked as a teacher in Washougal from around 1966 through 2001. Early in his career he worked in both elementary and middle school positions, but he eventually settled in at Jemtegaard Middle School, where he taught Science for most of his career. Mr. Cass also coached many different sports in the 1970s, 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, including basketball, track, football, and softball.

After his retirement in 2001, Mr. Cass returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher, and worked for another 16 years.  Mr Cass had the opportunity to help shape the futures of four generations of Washougal’s students, and to have a lasting impact that many will remember.

Please join Mr. Cass’ family, friends, and colleagues for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 27th @ 1:00 p.m. at Washougal High School’s Washburn Performing Arts Center.
