Board Conducts Linkage Meetings with Community Groups
The Washougal Board of Directors has hosted a series of meetings with constituent groups since December of 2006. These meetings are broad, information gathering meetings where the school board meets with different groups to gather information and keep in touch with the community.
In the past, the board has hosted three linkage meetings per year. These meetings have been with business leaders, WHS graduates, parents, school staff, booster and parent advisory group leaders, and senior citizens.
During the 2011 – 2012 school year the board is seeking information and feedback from parents and community members who volunteer in the district. In addition to the opportunity for volunteers to give testimony at a board meeting, the board has scheduled one regular board meeting to occur at each district school in order to make it easier for our volunteers to participate. The board would like to know more about the volunteer work being done in the district and what volunteers find rewarding. They are also interested in what challenges exist for those who volunteer.
Superintendent Tarzian will take the input received and will present to the board at the April 24, 2012 board meeting a plan for what changes could be implemented based on the feedback received.
