Clark County Skills Center

Washougal School District's high students can apply to attend the Clark County Skills Center. The Skills Center offers Career and Technical Education in 13 program areas where jobs are plentiful and pay well. Students can earn college credit through their program, as well as certifications and licenses specific to that industry. Students can also fulfill high school academic graduation requirements through credit equivalencies offered through the Skills Center coursework.

Each program is offered as a 1 or 2 year program, with the second year typically involving an internship. Programs include Applied Medical Science, Automotive Technology, Construction Technology, Cosmetology (1 year only), Criminal Justice, Dental Assisting, Diesel Technology, Electro-Digital Technologies, Financial Customer Services, Legal/Medical Office Applications, Pre-Engineering Design Technology, Restaurant Management/Culinary Arts, and Travel & Hotel Management.

Visit the Skills Center Web site.

Students and parents wanting more information about applying to the Skills Center can contact the Washougal High School coordinator Marsha Spencer at 360-954-3121. Each program area above has a set of prerequisites. Interested sophomore students attend a pre-tour in the auditorium in February of the year before they attend, and a tour is offered two weeks later. Applications are made available in late February. Students applications are evaluated by a panel, which decides which students qualify and are eligible to attend.

Students wishing to attend must meet these prerequisites:
Students must be on track for graduation
Students must have an excellent attendance history
