PANTHER P.R.I.D.E. Core Values

Perseverance: Perseverance is not giving up! It is the ability to have persistence and tenacity required to do something and keep doing it till the end, even if it’s hard.  

Respect: Respect yourself, your peers, your teachers and your school.  Treat others with kindness, consideration and live by the golden rule.  Treat others how you want to be treated, even if you are upset.

Integrity:  Doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.  Integrity is the quality of being honest and having a strong moral compass.  

Determination: Ability to approach new or hard tasks with the willingness to try and have a positive attitude! Determination will help you determine/set a goal and perseverance will help you achieve it, even when it is hard!

Empathy: The ability to share and understands another’s perspective, feelings and/or differences and be accepting of them.  

The WHS Staff is dedicated to providing the best possible educational program in order for our students to have the opportunity to acquire the skills, knowledge, and understanding that will contribute to a successful life.  This year PRIDE Time will occur four days a week (Mon, Tu, Th & Fri).  PRIDE Time goes from 1:-00 pm – 1:25 pm.  All WHS students who are enrolled in afternoon classes at WHS will have a PRIDE Time class.  The activities, lessons and opportunities occurring during PRIDE Time have been listed below: 

  • Character – We will be providing our students character lessons that will ask our students to start thinking about others and how they can positively influence those around them. Students will be explicitly taught character and leadership skills. We will be focusing on the types of skills that will crucial for them to carry on through life and into the home and workplace. This time will give teachers a chance to connect with our students on a “real” level. Our focus on character development is an opportunity to move away from the traditional content of our classes and discuss life and what it means to be an individual living in today’s society.
  • Digital Citizenship – We want to build a positive school culture that supports the safe and responsible use of technology. We want our students to build skills around critical thinking, ethical discussion, and decision making.
  • High School and Beyond – The High School and Beyond Plan is a collection documents designed to help students think about their future and choose coursework that prepares them for their goals after high school. Students work with their families and school staff to create their High School and Beyond Plan based on their own Personalized Pathway Requirement. They continue to revise their plan each year throughout high school as their interests or goals change.
