Canyon Creek Middle School Leanna Vaughan Katherine Baxter Leanna is one of the most dedicated teachers I have met. She truly cares about her students and wants the best for them. She gives a lot of her time on planning to find the best way to instruct a concept so every student understands. She is dedicated to help the students that struggle. She is well respect by all the students and staff. I have the pleasure of working with her in one math class. I have learned a lot from her and I know I will continue to do so. Canyon Creek Middle School Patrick Rice Aaron Hansen I want to celebrate Patrick Rice. His enthusiasm for teaching is infectious. With deep content knowledge and a passion for presenting scientific concepts, Patrick brings joy to his work as an educator. He is always looking for new ways to engage students and approaches his role with dedication, thoughtfulness, and collaboration. He understands the profound impact educators can have on students’ lives and takes that responsibility to heart. Patrick is making a real difference. Canyon Creek Middle School Mr. Hooser Colleague I am so thankful to have Mr. Hooser teaching the 8th Grade Science classes at CCMS. He does a great job of engaging students in hands-on science activities and he challenges his students to apply what they learn in his class during labs and projects. He also really helps his students prepare/review for the Washington State Science Test that students take near the end of their 8th grade year.  The high scores that his students regularly earn on this assessment are a testament to Mr. Hooser’s effectiveness as a teacher.
Canyon Creek Middle School Ryan Hooser Aaron Hansen I want to celebrate Ryan Hooser. He is highly engaging, knowledgeable, and deeply committed to his students, colleagues, and our community. It is clear in every interaction and observation that Ryan is passionate about science and dedicated to creating meaningful learning experiences for his students. Cape Horn-Skye Elementary School Mrs. Alice Yang Deepika Mrs. Yang is a ray of sunshine. My daughter adores her so much. Mrs. Yang is warm, kind, generous and so very sweet. She makes art classes very fun for the kids, and my daughter Aria looks forward to her class all week! She eased Aria’s apprehension during her transition to the new school with her warm and loving nature. Mrs. Yang is very encouraging and patient and teaches kids to be patient too, which is a quality they sorely lack during the elementary years. I wish nothing but the best to Mrs. Yang.

Cape Horn-Skye Elementary School Erin Eaton Meadow & Kellie You only get one kindergarten teacher. The importance this person carries is your life is significant. They are the welcome gates, the stepping stone and the confidence builder into education. The role Ms. Eaton has played in our son’s life is hard to sum up, we could not have asked for a better first educator in his life. She is kind, empathetic, a strong leader and so loving. We have watched his confidence grow, his love of learning flourish and we love watching him teach us and his brother everything he has learned. A true reflection of Ms. Eaton leading him every day in the classroom.  What a gift she is to all of her students. We are so grateful she will forever be a joyful core memory in our son’s life. Cape Horn-Skye Elementary School Mrs. Josie Barrett Deepika What sets Mrs. Barrett above the rest is her empathy and understanding. She is not only great at teaching the kids, academics, but she also works very hard to make all the children good human beings. She teaches kids how to deal with complex issues that the parents might not be apt at addressing. In addition to that, she provides them with tools and techniques that they can implement to bring actual positive change in their day to day lives. Mrs. Barrett is a model example of what the teachers should be like. I am so happy that Aria got to spend her crucial elementary year with Mrs. Barrett.

My student has grown and blossomed so much over these last two years. For all the worry that I feel for him, I never have to worry about school because he is so loved and supported in that environment and I truly appreciate it.  Just know that you truly make a difference in the lives of your kids each day, which also makes a difference in the lives of us parents too.
