Our local chapter of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and its Auxiliary sponsor an annual essay contest for Veterans Day. This year’s theme is “Why Do I Stand For My Country’s Flag?” The contest is open to all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. All entries must be submitted to the VFW, Post 4278 in Camas no later than October 31st.This is a courtesy post for a non-school related event sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Auxiliary. Participation is optional and open to all students grades 3-5, including homeschool. Please see attached entry form for complete details. VFW also sponsors an annual Teacher Award Program. Anyone (student, parent, or staff) can nominate a teacher whom they feel deserves recognition for instilling a sense of national pride in students. Specific rules apply, please see the attached form for details.
