It’s not too late!

We have a long standing tradition of honoring our veterans here at Cape Horn-Skye. While we are not yet sure what Veteran’s Day will look like on campus this year, we hope to keep at least parts of our tradition alive. While CHS does not sponsor the below contest, nor do we require participation, we do encourage students and value their effort.

The Washougal chapter of Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Auxiliary invite students in grades 3 through 5 to submit an original essay of 250 words or less on “Why Should We Honor Veterans?” All entries must be submitted no later than October 31st. Late entries will not be accepted. Entries may be submitted either directly to the VFW (address on the application) or to the school. This contest is open to all students in Washington, grades 3-5, even homeschoolers. Please see the attached files for official rules and entry form.

*All submitted essays become the property of VFW and will not be returned to applicants. Please be sure to keep a copy for yourself should you wish to retain one. Copies will not be provided by VFW. This contest is not sponsored by WSD or CHS, but is distributed by the school as a courtesy.
