Cape Horn-Skye Kodiak Kindergartners:  Back-to-School 2023 Information

Welcome to Cape Horn-Skye Elementary!  Our school prides itself on having a wonderful community.  We all come together to raise kind and respectful kids, hard working and responsible students, as well as provide for a safe and supportive learning environment.  We have several opportunities this fall to jump into the Kindergarten routine.  See you there!  ~Principal Brooke Henley

August 22 – 23 – 24  Kindergarten Testing

Students will meet with a kindergarten teacher at Cape Horn-Skye to be evaluated.  This should take 20 minutes and teachers gain knowledge on student skills.  Please sign up through Principal Henley (see below).

August 31st – Back to School Night!

4:00  Kindergarten Orientation – We will start all together at 4:00, so be there ready to roll!  Students and families will have the opportunity to meet teachers, hear from the principal, ride the bus, and tour the school/classroom.  

5:00-6:00  All-School Open House for every grade.  You can meet/greet other staff and students, bring school supplies, connect with our Boosters, and more.

September 5 – First Day of School for Grades 1-5 and Kindergarten students last name starting with A-G

 

Kindergarten Soft Start for the First Day

This year, Washougal School District has planned a “Soft Start” for Kindies.  Students will experience their first days of school in small amounts.  We know this format will be supportive for kids as they ease into learning.  This format will support the students as they learn about their teacher, school, and classroom routines.

September 5 8:00-11:30 am Students with Last Name that starts with A-G, in person learning in a small group.  Afternoon Family Connections Meetings with Teachers (to be scheduled at testing)

September 6 8:00-11:30 am Students with Last Name that starts with H-P, in person learning in a small group.  Afternoon Family Connections Meetings with Teachers (to be scheduled at testing)

September 7 8:00-11:30 am Students with Last Name that starts with Q-Z, in person learning in a small group.  Afternoon Family Connections Meetings with Teachers (to be scheduled at testing)

September 8 8:00-11:30 am ALL Kindergarteners, in person learning for a half day in the morning.  Afternoon Family Connections Meetings with Teachers (to be scheduled at testing)

NO SCHOOL FOR KINDERGARTNERS Friday, September 15th for further testing for new students & Family Connections Meetings with Teachers (to be scheduled at testing)
