Washougal School District has implemented a standardized classroom model for classrooms grades K-12, with each core classroom receiving a computer, document camera, and a projector or large format display. The district’s Technology department has partnered with a number of district teachers to provide hands-on staff development opportunities for staff to learn to integrate technology into their curriculum. The district provides 1:1 learning devices in classrooms in grades K-12 with funding through the voter approved Technology Levy.

Personal Devices
- Before & After School Only: Students may use cell phones, tablets, laptops, earbuds, headphones, or gaming devices before and after school only. During class, passing times, and lunch, devices must stay in backpacks or bags.
- Smartwatches: May be worn for timekeeping, but should not be used for messaging or non-school apps during the day.
- Family Communication: If a student needs to contact family during the school day, they may request to use the office phone or use their personal device in the office. To limit distraction and disruption to their learning, we ask students to limit calls with home to non-class times unless there is a family emergency. Parents can also call the school office to leave a message for their student.
Chromebooks
Daily use: Students will pick up their Chromebook from their 6th-period class at the start of the school day, then head to 1st period. They will carry their Chromebook with them throughout the day, then return it to the charging cart during 6th period.
Learning from Home: Although additional learning is not assigned outside of school hours, students may occasionally need to finish work they did not complete at school or keep up with assignments when absent. To support this, students have two options:
- Access anywhere: School resources and curriculum are web-based and can be accessed from any device with internet access.
- Chromebook checkout If a student does not have a device available at home, there will be an overnight checkout process available.
