WHS parent Tara Poulsen put her passion for fashion and community service together and created some magic for students attending school dances this spring, gathering donations of new and gently used ball gowns for students to wear.
Tara, who has an extensive network of generous friends, gathered gowns for months, and also received donations of new gowns from a retailer.  She brought the gowns to WHS, where they were arranged for students interested in shopping for a gown to view and try on.  The event, which took place on April 29 after school, allowed dozens of students who found a great gown they loved to take them for free.

Tara sees events like this as a great way to connect with others in the community and help give back.  She’s incredibly appreciative of those who donated, and hopes to gather more donations for future events, with the possibility of expanding the event to serve students beyond Washougal.  Tara is an exceptional partner in our work to support students, and these innovative events that remove barriers to participation are a great way to ensure every Panther is able to enjoy the amazing events that make Washougal schools special!
